Chrysothemis jätte beskuren

Top-class cast. Susanna Levonen impresses with an intense portrait of the sister Chrysothemis.” Bo Löfvendahl, Svenska Dagbladet

Marvellous are also the Finnish Susanna Levonen in the role of Chrysothemis and the Swedish Ingrid Tobiasson as Klytemnestra.”          Juan Ángel Vela del Campo, EL PAÍS

Fiery interpretation meets Catalan pyrotechnic. Here Elektras sister Chrysothemis, brilliantly sung by Susanna Levonen, is striving to ”live without living”                           Martin Nyström, Dagens Nyheter

Susanna Levonen impersonates Chrysothemis as the lyric counterpart to Elektra that she is, yet Srauss has written the part for a dramatic soprano. Through conscious direction she is here free to express her sharp musicality and vocally she is stunning and brilliant.”      Bengt Hultman, VK

Susanna Levonen we hear as an exellently sung Chrysothemis”                                        Claes Wahlin, Aftonbladet

A 40-Year-Old in Top Trim!

NorrlandsOperan celebrates its 40th Anniversary 2014 as Umeå is European Capital of Culture. In the Anniversary Concerts Susanna Levonen, Ronald Samm, Kosma Ranuer and NorrlandsOperan’s Symphony Orchestra perform highlights from the NO! repertory with the fantastic Daniel Cohen as conductor.

Susanna sings amongst others Leonora’s Abscheulicher! from Fidelio, Madama Butterfly’s Tu? tu? piccolo iddio, Carmen’s Seguedilla and duets from La Bohème and The Flying Dutchman.

Norrbottens Kuriren wrote:         (Photo: Pär Bäckström)

“Susanna Levonen, who with her ice clear soprano as vocal chlorophyll, awakens several musical buds into bloom – with the dramatic eruption in Leonoras aria from Fidelio and the elegantly pirouetting Seguidilla from Carmen as highlights… Levonen and Samm also offer an almost unbeatable duet in O Soave fanciulla from Puccinis La Bohème with playful interaction. …a fantastic evening with a 40-Year-Old in Top Trim, without any signs of middle-age crisis. A Gala Evening in other words! “

Next Concerts will be in Sundsvall the 5th of April, Östersund 6.4 and Lycksele 8.4      Tickets and information:

Sibelius’ Luonnotar op.70

Susanna Levonen will sing Sibelius’ Luonnotar with Conductor Mei-Ann Chen in Umeå the 5th of September 2013.

Kalevala et Luonnotar
Yohanna Demougeot

Last Susanna performed Luonnotar, was at the International Trondheim Chamber Music Festival with Thomas Adès, where she also sang Berio’s Folksongs and Thomas Adès’ “Life Story”.

Adresseavisen in Trondheim wrote:

They are very difficult to perform. But Susanna Levonen knew how to sing with a wide range. That is also necessary, as the cultural expressions in the songs are so different. It is not the same vocal technique that characterise Sicilian, Continental or American Folklore. But Levonen played with her wide range of expressions and showed off a broad register of characters added to an impressive vocal range. But the last, was maybe most obviously revealed in Sibelius’ Luonnotar, that simply was very touching.”

Un ballo in Maschera in September 2013

After her success as a hot Amy Winhouse-Marie in the Theater Pforzheim Wozzeck in 2012, Susanna Levonen has been invited back to open the 2013-2014 Season as Amelia in Verdis’  Un ballo in Maschera in September 2013.

Juni 2012
